Connexity Merchant Terms Update FAQs
We’ve updated the Connexity Merchant Terms to support new features and better explain our service and what we ask of Merchants. These Frequently Asked Questions (“FAQ”) are a high-level overview of some of the main updates.
1. What’s Changed?
Our service still includes the same great incremental performance marketing as before, but we’ve added features and updated language to ensure our service continues to be compliant with laws and regulations.
Some highlights of key changes in our April 2024 update include:
i) the Dynamic Product Ads (also referenced as “DCO” (Dynamic Creative Optimization)) feature, through implementation of our Pixel(s), which opens up a new distribution channel for Merchant product offers – Taboola’s native advertising network of premium publishers;
ii) updated terminology to reflect Connexity’s evolution from a listing service to a performance marketing service, including more transparency about our pricing systems; and
iii) updated data protection provisions that map to data protection standards.
2. What are Dynamic Product Ads and How Can I Use Them?
Dynamic Product Ads enable brands and retailers to efficiently scale exposure of product offers with targeting to high-intent audiences of premiere content sites within the Taboola publisher network. With Dynamic Product Ads, product offers (with relevant images and descriptive information from the merchant product feed) are dynamically selected for presentation as ad placements in content pages based on intent and interest profiling of audiences visiting the site. This is done using publisher supplied first-party content site visitor data along with merchant supplied first-party ecommerce site visitor activity data from an implementation of our Pixel(s), which gather higher product intent signals critical to optimizing campaign performance. This results in more effective placement of Merchant product offers in the Taboola network, driving higher ROI.
3. What Should I Know About the Connexity Pixel(s)?
The Pixel(s) Connexity help merchants to implement provide campaign performance benefits in two areas. First, the Pixel(s) we help merchants implement supplies the first-party site event data (i.e., Page Views, Category View, Product View, Add to Cart, Conversion) necessary to run Dynamic Product Ad campaigns. You can find out more about Pixel(s) implementation in the Merchant Resource Center here, in the “Getting Started” section, or by working with your Account Manager. Another benefit merchants experience implementing a Connexity Pixel(s) with their campaign is that the pixel supplies real-time signals about conversions from Connexity ad placements. These signals inform the dynamic optimisations of ad pricing and placement bidding we make to win in-demand shopper exposure opportunities.
4. What’s the Updated Terminology You’re Talking About?
Like every online business, Connexity periodically updates its terms to reflect current offerings. Our updated terms include largely similar provisions to before, e.g., we still specialize in distributing Merchant product offers and in exchange we receive compensation for clicks. However, we removed legacy terms that no longer apply in the modern online performance marketing world, including removal of bidding language and more information on our dynamic proprietary pricing system (“Smart Pricing”).
5. How do the Updated Terms Align with Data Protection Laws and Regulations?
Our data protection team has spent significant time and resources to ensure our service continues to align with global data protection standards, including applicable U.S. State privacy laws like the California Consumer Privacy Act (“CCPA”), as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act (“CPRA”), the EU’s General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”), and related laws, regulations, and regulatory guidance. To that end, the updated terms include the new Merchant Privacy Terms (“Privacy Terms”) available here. The Privacy Terms include updated disclosures about the personal data collection and processing activities involved in our service, and expectations of Connexity and Merchants. More information about data protection laws and regulations, and what Connexity is doing to comply, can be found in the Merchant Privacy FAQs.
